Dental impression materials are alginate, polyether, condensation silicone, addition silicone (VPS), impression compound and ZOE materials used to capture an accurate negative replica of teeth and soft tissue for crowns, bridges, dentures, study models and orthodontic appliances. Dentalkart stocks 35+ impression materials plus tray adhesives, bite registration and custom-tray materials from Zhermack, 3M, Dentsply, Coltene, GC, Heraeus Kulzer, Waldent and Prime Dental.
Fast-set chromatic alginate for study models, opposing arches, ortho records and primary dentures — pour within 10 minutes for dimensional stability. For example, Zhermack Hydrogum 5 Alginate.
Two-paste putty + light/medium/heavy body wash VPS with excellent dimensional stability and tear strength — the gold standard for crown and bridge impressions. For example, Zhermack Elite HD Putty Soft Fast Set or Dentsply Aquasil Impression Material.
Single-paste hydrophilic polyether with superior wettability and detail reproduction in moist sulci — ideal for implant level and difficult subgingival margins. For example, 3M Impregum Soft Polyether.
Two-paste putty + light body C-silicone with shorter shelf life but excellent cost-to-detail ratio — widely used for crown and bridge in everyday practice. For example, Coltene Speedex Condensation Silicone.
Thermoplastic impression compound cakes for primary edentulous impressions, peripheral seal recording and copper-band impressions; zinc-oxide-eugenol paste for secondary edentulous wash impressions over custom trays.
Fast-set VPS bite registration paste cartridges in 1:1 mixing ratio that capture jaw relation, occlusal records and protrusive/lateral excursions for articulator mounting.
VPS, polyether and universal tray adhesives in 14–17 ml bottles; heat-mouldable flexible stock trays, light-cure custom-tray material and edentulous tray sets to complete every impression workflow.
Dentalkart's impression material range includes Zhermack, 3M, Dentsply, Coltene, GC, Heraeus Kulzer, Waldent, API, NeoEndo, Prime Dental, Maarc, Neosil and Nobildent — covering every viscosity, set speed and material chemistry.
Every impression material is sourced direct from the manufacturer or authorised Indian distributor, ships with lot number, manufacturing date and expiry printed on every box, and reaches 110000+ pincodes across India with COD on most SKUs. Pair impression materials with matched tray adhesives, mixing tips, bite registration cartridges and custom-tray dental supplies from one trusted catalogue serving 50,000+ dentists and dental colleges.

The difference between alginate and VPS impression material is dimensional stability and indication. Alginate (irreversible hydrocolloid) is a low-cost material for study models, opposing arches and denture impressions that must be poured within 10 minutes. VPS (addition silicone) holds dimensions for 24 hours plus and is the gold standard for crown, bridge and implant impressions.
The best impression material for crown and bridge work is addition silicone (VPS) such as Zhermack Elite HD or Dentsply Aquasil, or polyether such as 3M Impregum. VPS offers excellent tear strength and 24-hour pour delay; polyether wins on hydrophilicity and detail reproduction in moist subgingival margins around prepared teeth.
No, you cannot pour an alginate impression the next day. Alginate is dimensionally stable for only 10–15 minutes after removal — it shrinks through syneresis (water loss) and swells through imbibition (water uptake) if stored. Pour immediately, or switch to VPS or polyether for any impression that needs delayed pouring or a second model.
You need a tray adhesive with VPS and polyether because both materials shrink slightly on polymerisation and want to pull away from the tray walls during removal — causing distortion or detachment. The matched manufacturer adhesive bonds the material chemically to the tray; generic or wrong-chemistry adhesives fail and ruin the impression.
Yes, every impression material on Dentalkart is genuine with valid expiry. All Zhermack, 3M, Dentsply, Coltene, GC, Heraeus Kulzer, Waldent and Prime Dental products are sourced direct from the manufacturer or authorised Indian distributor and ship with the original lot number, manufacturing date and expiry printed on every box.
