How to Use and Choose Impression Compound

2. Knead for 15–20 seconds with wet fingers to achieve uniform plasticity before tray loading.
3. Seat the loaded tray under firm pressure, hold until the compound sets hard against the mouth wall (60–90 seconds at 37 °C).
4. Pick Type I cakes for primary edentulous and 5-cake packs for high-volume practices; pick stick compound for copper-band and tracing stick for border moulding.
5. Check the cake colour and lot — DPI red, MDM Y-Dent green, and brand-specific shades; expired compound becomes brittle and short-flowing.
